Welcome To The Sophisticated Lodge

Welcome to ‘The Sophisticated Lodge” by Flourish Interiors. As the name would imply, this new project is a rustic, lodge inspired home; however our design successfully added a layer of elegance and sophistication you may not normally expect in this type of aesthetic. The Flourish touch can be applied across various home styles, and this project exemplifies that ability perfectly. We are known for a French inspired aesthetic, but we love to apply those principals in different ways. This expansive, rustic home was a chance to flex our skills: and you will see how our style melded with this organic, masculine property.

This property is surrounded by the most beautiful grounds including woods, extensive landscaping, prolific boulder walls and even waterfalls. Our client wanted to use different tones of neutrals (some warm, some cool) to create an organic and masculine aesthetic. In order to achieve this goal, we worked to bring the outdoors "in". By utilizing materials such as ledge rock, leather, pampas grass, greenery, pottery, and neutral earthy fabrics we accomplished that objective.

The first space we were asked to design for here was the large great room. Our client had just started renovating this room when we were brought into the project. His plans included raising the ceiling height, extending a stone fireplace, adding panoramic windows, and various other material upgrades. We helped consult on how to make sure these fairly extensive renovation plans were pulled off in such a manner that they looked original to the home. We also then helped with finer details like rugs and furnishings in the great room. A large western themed rug gave the space that desired ‘Colorado” feel. However, then sleek, modern side chairs give a contemporary feel to the space. Our client already had a beloved, comfortable sectional anchoring this space and wanted to keep this in play. However, we were able to add more sophistication and modern style with these woven leather chairs. Simple additions like new accent chairs and lamps can really elevate a space and make older surrounding pieces look more stylish.

Part of the great room design, needed to include a bar/entertainment zone. Whether you enjoy entertaining or would prefer personal use, having a dry bar near your great room is so handy. It's the ideal spot to make mixed drinks, lay out a spread, or store wine: and all in the midst of your main living space. This existing rustic stone wall and bar area was already in place when we began designing for The Sophisticated Lodge. We added a touch of elegance by accessorizing a sideboard with a mirror, lamp, books, wine, and pampas grass arrangement. Even when an area has a designated purpose, such as a dry bar, we like to add accessories like greenery and books to add warmth and style.

Another space we helped design at The Sophisticated Lodge was the primary suite. In this room, we were asked to work around a beautiful bedroom set the client had acquired many years ago. The set was solid wood and intricately carved: it was clearly an investment and no surprise he wanted to hang on to it. When we started though the room looked a little dated and tired, and our client was unsure on how to make his space look updated while keeping the furniture. By creating a feature wall behind the bed, and adding new linens and accessories, we were able to really bring the furnishings into a new era. Now the pieces read unique and special, because of the fresh surroundings we created around them.

Adjoining the primary bedroom is a t-shaped bathroom space, in which our team designed an extensive renovation. This space presented our team with a unique layout challenge: a narrow T-shaped floor plan. However, we utilized the central entry point to create a real "moment" with a free standing, elegant bathtub. This tub is then flanked on either side with his and her vanities. The sophisticated lines and clean modern white of the tub and white backsplash are juxtaposed with rustic details such as charcoal toned tile floors and leather accessories. One of the standout features in this bathroom is the large, floor to ceiling tiled walk in shower, which also features numerous body sprays, shower heads, and other features. Shower systems, like this one, are becoming more popular and we certainly see why! It makes any shower feel like one at a luxe, 5 star hotel or spa. Having a custom shower designed precisely to our clients needs is something we enjoy bringing to life. From plumbing fixture systems, to niches and benches, this shower has it all. Finally, we also helped accessorize this space. We always aim to give a bathroom more character by adding warmth that you can see in the fibers and materials; such as the rug, rolled towels and eucalyptist details. These little organic touches make the smooth, hard materials like a tub, tile, and cabinetry feel in balance and welcoming... once again, like a dreamy spa that you can retreat to each and every day!
